MatteCam has no sign-up or login; we do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
On your phone
The camera, looks, date stamp, grain and light leaks are applied on the device. Photos and videos you take are saved to a “MatteCam” album in your Photos library; the app’s roll keeps the original and the film version in the app’s own storage on your phone. Photos you import from your library are processed on the device too. We do not upload your photos or videos; we have no server that receives them.
Permissions and why
- Camera — to shoot with a live look.
- Microphone — sound when you record video.
- Photos — to save your shots to the MatteCam album and to pick photos to bring into the Lab.
You can change these in iOS Settings at any time.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
The app contains no analytics or advertising SDK and does not track you across apps or websites.
Purchases
Look packs are bought through Apple’s App Store; Apple handles payment and we never see your card details. To check and restore purchases the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous identifier created by the app, your App Store purchase records, and basic device and app information (such as app version, iOS version, and storefront country). What leaves your device
Only the purchase information above, and only when the app checks or restores your purchases.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its roll and settings from your phone. Photos already saved to the MatteCam album stay in Photos until you delete them there. Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat; contact us to ask RevenueCat to delete the anonymous record.
This website
No cookies and no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and delivery.
Children
MatteCam is not directed at children under 13; we collect no personal information from anyone.
